UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed in New York on Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports.
The company was holding an investor conference at the Hilton hotel in Midtown on Wednesday, with Thompson reportedly killed on his way to the conference.
According to police, officers responding to a 911 call found a 50-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest just after 6:45 a.m. He was taken to Mount Sinai West in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said there are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
Thompson joined UnitedHealth in 2004 and has led UnitedHealthcare, the company’s insurance division, since 2021. Thompson has also served as chief financial officer for UnitedHealthcare’s commercial, Medicare and Medicaid programs.
